Hunting at Estancia Los Patos

Estancia Los Patos is internationally wellknown for duck hunting. Every year expert hunters, journalists, and renowned photographers arrive from different parts of the world for this reason.

Duck hunting takes place in ponds especially prepared for this activity, with the assistance of bilingual and expert guides, who are in charge of selecting the best hunting spots, and transferring hunters to and from hunting areas. They work with retrievers and pointers.

In duck hunting there is quantity limits per person and per day. Hunting season for ducks as well as for partridges starts on April 15 and ends on August 15.



Duck & Partridge Hunting

In the Monte area there are thirteen different duck species which can be caught by visitors.

They are:

  • Brazilian Duck
  • Argentine Blue-bill
  • Silver Teal
  • Ringed Teal
  • Cinnamon Teal
  • Red Shoveler
  • White-cheeked Pintail
  • Yellow-billed Pintail
  • Chiloe Wigeon

  • White-faced Whistling Duck
  • Fulvous Whistling Duck


Pidgeon Hunting

In Monte it is possible to hunt the montera pidgeon and the woodpigeon. The montera pigeon is known for its size and the quality of its meat.

A bilingual hunting team will go with you to hunt in the different spots forming our pigeon hunting circuit.

The program includes transfers in 4x4 trucks from the estancia compound to the hunting spots, located at no more than a 25 minute-distance.

If required, we offer the possibility of hiring shotguns. Cartridges are offered at 10 U$S per each 25 unit-box.

The program includes a full luncheon at the hunting spot or, optionally, at the compound.

There are two types of partridges you can find in Monte:

  • The Spotted Nothura (Nothura Maculosa).
  • Red Winged Tinamou (Rhynchotus rufescens).


Hunting Programs

Duck and Partridge Hunting (season April 15 to August 15).

Activity for the day - Including:

  • 2 hunting outings, one in the morning, another in the afternoon (in the mornings preferently ducks, in the afternoons patridges and pidgeons)
  • Transfer to and from hunting areas
  • One bilingual professional guide each two persons
  • Hunting dogs and pointers
  • Preparation of hunting posts
  • Lunch and drinks in the country
  • Cartridge provision at 10 U.S. dollars per 25 unit-box

Lodging on a double basis - Including:


  • Twin bedrooms in Suite and/or one double bedroom, all rooms with private bathrooms
